Link21 Co-creation Resource Hub

Thank you for your participation in co-creating the Link21 Program!  This hub is a space for you to find information about the co-creation process, provide your feedback, and contact the Link21 Team.

Through a process called co-creation, the Link21 Team has been working together with your community to improve the passenger rail network in Northern California. For co-creation activities, Link21 works with communities that have been marginalized. This co-creation process makes sure your lived experience shapes the design and planning for Link21.

As of July 2022, the Link21 Team hosted three rounds of community co-creation and had reached more than 700 community members through workshops and more than 9,635+ through surveys and polls.

Join the Discussion

Since February 2023, the Link21 team has been meeting with jurisdictions, agency partners, and targeted communities around the Megaregion to provide updates and share the initial six concepts. This engagement and outreach will continue through June when we will host large public outreach events to create opportunities for information sharing, addressing questions, and listening to concerns. The outreach program is dynamic with multi-layered activities, tools, and communication to best reach the Megaregion residents in their preferred method of engagement.  Link21 engagement opportunities for 2023 are being scheduled regularly so visit our Get Involved webpage to stay updated on events and sign-up for Program updates.

Co-creation Round 3 (Summer 2022)

The Link21 Team partnered with community-based organizations to host 11 co-creation workshops in June and July 2022, which included over 200 participants. Community-based organizations and community members were compensated for participating in these workshops.

During these workshops, the Link21 Team aimed to:

  • Understand transportation challenges and burdens experienced by your community
  • Co-create passenger rail solutions for these challenges and burdens
  • Explain how co-created solutions will influence Link21

You can review these PowerPoint slides and this handout that were shared during the workshop. You can also read an overall summary of these workshops here (English, SpanishChinese, or Hmong) or read a summary of each workshop using the links by language. Workshop summaries are available in English and the language(s) used during the workshop.

Co-creation Rounds 1 and 2 (2021)

In Rounds 1 and 2, the Link21 Team partnered with over 30 community-based organizations. We heard from over 500 community members through workshops and over 100 community members through a survey. To learn more, read the Co-creation Round 1 and 2 summary.

In partnership with community-based organizations, the Link21 Team held Co-creation Round 1 from February to April 2021 and Co-creation Round 2 from August to October 2021. We co-created updates to the Goals and Objectives of Link21 and the Priority Populations Definition. Please explore an interactive map of priority populations here.
